Grief & Bereavement
When someone you love dies, the world you knew can suddenly feel unfamiliar. You do not have to grieve a certain way or be at a certain place in the process before reaching out for support.

A warm, steady place to feel supported through grief and loss, caregiving, and life transitions.
Sometimes you lose someone you love. Sometimes the loss is a relationship, your health, a role, a future you expected, or a sense of who you were.
Caregiving and major change can also leave little room to process what you are carrying or to find your place in what comes next.

Caring for someone you love can hold love, responsibility, exhaustion, worry, uncertainty, and grief all at once. I offer space for what you are carrying when so much of your energy has gone toward caring for someone else.

Not every loss is a death. Relationships, careers, health, roles, dreams, and futures that change can all leave you grieving what you expected life to be.

Some losses are difficult to explain or may not be recognized by the people around you. You do not need to prove that your loss is significant enough to deserve support.
Learn More →Living alongside grief
Grief does not follow a prescribed timeline. Therapy can make room for what has been lost while helping you find your footing in the life that is here now.
Two things can be true at the same time.
A place to pause
You can arrive tired, uncertain, angry, relieved, sad, or not entirely sure what you feel. You do not need the right words or need to hold everything together here.
We can make room for what has been lost and what everyday life is asking of you now — relationships, identity, caregiving, boundaries, needs, and the future you expected — without telling you how you should feel or where you should be by now.
Meet Jessica
I’m the founder of The Golden Canopy, and my work focuses on grief and loss, caregiving, and the life transitions that can leave us wondering who we are now.
I hold a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa. My approach is calm, down to earth, and grounded in each person’s lived experience.
I do not believe in rushing people toward closure. I value steadiness, curiosity, and making room for complicated feelings without expecting them to become something simpler.
The meaning behind the name
Warm. Safe. Steady.
A canopy offers shelter — a place to pause and feel a little more held while the storm is still happening. That is what I hope therapy here can offer: room for what you are carrying, without pressure to have everything figured out.
Professional referrals
I welcome referrals from hospice and palliative care professionals, physicians, healthcare providers, and others supporting adults through grief, caregiving, bereavement, and major life transitions.
